Something called the black Vultures

While not necessarily a pretty part of nature the Vulture plays a vital role in nature by eating carrion. These Vultures had the remains of an unidentifiable animal nearly eaten by the time I saw them in a church parking lot in Winter Haven, Florida.

Preston Aviation's Stearman BiPlane

This image is of an antique WWII era trainer aircraft. The civilian name was and is known as Stearman BiPlane. The naval Version was commonly called the Yellow Peril because it was painted nearly all yellow. It was also the first aircraft that fledgling pilots flew. The Instructor Pilots were probably the ones who actually nick named it "the yellow Peril".

DC-3? AT GILBERT FIELD.

This is what I think is a DC-3 that I saw at Gilbert Field on May 16, 2014. If it is in fact a DC-3, it is quite possibly a WWII era aircraft. Regardless, you seldom see these aircraft in use today.

Civilian Jet at Gilbert Field

I would like to positively state that this is a Falcon jet at Gilbert Field in Winter Haven, FL., but I have no real idea what type of civilian jet it is.

I have edited this image of a South Lake Howard Limpkin more heavily than the other images of Limpkins in this series. I have sharpened,cropped it and adjusted the brightness of it. It was taken on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 as I was on my way home from work. I stopped in at South Lake Howard on a whim and ended up with some great pictures.

Hello, yet again I find myself apologizing for not maintaining my pace on posting here. I ran out of hours and days before I ran out of other tasks to accomplish. Well, better late than never, here is a picture of a Limpkin I took this afternoon. Limpkins are medium to large sized birds that eat Apple Snails as a large part of their diet. This picture was taken at the South Lake Howard Water reclamation park in Winter Haven, Florida.

I captured this image of a 1950's era Ford Pickup truck at Winter Haven's downtown park on August 8, 2013. The day had been rainy and hot, so many of the normal participants declined to show up for the festivities.

Brown's Seaplane Base 004

I got this image of a Piper Cub Airplane taking off from Brown's Seaplane Base on January 18, 2013. Brown's Seaplane base is located on a small lake, the name of which escapes me, right next to Gilbert field. Brown's Seaplane base has been a productive business teaching pilots the basics of landing and taking off on water since shortly after WWII.

I captured this image of the Good Year Blimp flying near Gilbert Field in Winter Haven, Florida. For those who don't know, Gilbert Field is also known as the Winter Haven airport. It was very much a "bluebird" central Florida Day on February 18, 2013.
